چکیده
In the present paper, interference effects on bearing capacity of two and three closely spaced strip footings resting granular bed overlying clay are being studied. A simple analytical model is proposed to predict load-carrying factor an interfered footing, when adjacent optimally placed surface a Granular Bed (GB) both simultaneously loaded. punching shear failure mechanism envisaged in model. The footing taken as sum total shearing resistances along vertical planes through edges upper layer soft beneath GB. Insights gained from finite element simulations used develop new modified for interfering footing. Bearing can be easily calculated by using validated with numerical analyses previous experimental results found reasonably good agreement. influence different parameters such thickness, width number carried out this study. Seismic Bearing Capacity of Strip Footings on Pile-Stabilized Slopes
This paper develops an analytical method to calculate seismic bearing capacity of a strip footing, which is located on a slope reinforced with rows of pile. The resistance of passive pile is determined based on normal and shear stress of the soil around the pile, which is then compared to other analytical methods. This comparison indicates an acceptable agreement. The variants of the study incl...
متن کاملEffect of Fuzzy Boundaries on the Bearing Capacity of Footings on Two-Layered Clay
In this study, fuzzy logic was implemented to formulate the fuzziness of layer boundaries for a two-layered clay soil. A field of two-layered clay with fuzzy boundaries between layers was generated, and then the bearing capacity of strip footing on this field was calculated by the assumption of plane-strain conditions. The Mohr-Coulomb failure criterion was used and bearing capacity calculation...

متن کاملBearing Capacity of Strip Footings near Slopes Using Lower Bound Limit Analysis
Stability of foundations near slopes is one of the important and complicated problems in geotechnical engineering, which has been investigated by various methods such as limit equilibrium, limit analysis, slip-line, finite element and discrete element. The complexity of this problem is resulted from the combination of two probable failures: foundation failure and overall slope failure. The curr...
متن کاملBearing capacity of strip footings on unsaturated soils by the slip line theory
The bearing capacity of strip footings on unsaturated soils is studied using slip line theory. The suction profiles considered are non-uniform with depth and correspond to vertical flow of water by infiltration or evaporation. The slip line theory assumes a plastic equilibrium state of a Mohr-Coulomb soil in which suction influences are included using the effective stress concept. This paper sh...
